Germany: GB issue ´Lusitania´ medallion: The passenger ship Lusitania was sunk off the coast of Ireland by a German U boat on 7th May 1915. Germany issued a medal commemorating the sinking and claiming the ship was carrying armaments destined for British use. It was later shown that the Lusitania was an innocent passenger ship and the British government produced this copy of the German medal incorrectly showing the date of the sinking as 5th May, claiming that the sinking was a premeditated attack by Germany on innocent civilians.55mm Iron: original box in fair condition; with original leaflet; un-circulated condition
